YES! I noticed that as it was airing and meant to make a note of it, but I forgot. I LOVED this moment because as much as it was a ‘background moment’, it was just such a nice glimpse into their relationship.  LOVE that he can just give her a single look and she knows she’s got to pull herself back in line because thinking back to S1 Alisha, she would have given Simon a look back like, “WTF is your problem? get the fuck out of my face!”. Ahh, I love how far they’ve come. I’d love to see a moment like this where Simon is being his strange little self and she just cocks and eyebrow at him and he pulls himself together, lol. I just love how they still have retained their personalities, but it’s like being together has softened their edges and brought them back from either end of the spectrum.

I love the way these two look at each other, especially when the other person isn’t looking at them. They’re just so in love and so content with each other. I also adore the way Simon always lingers after a kiss and keeps his eyes close a second longer than needed. It’s like he’s focusing on the moment so it stays etched in his memories forever. Then once he does opens his eyes, it’s like he’s still stunned, even after all these months, that he’s the one who gets to kiss this beautiful, wonderful woman, Alisha.

“What are they going to do to us?”

I love that out of all of them, the first person Alisha turns to is Simon. She trusts him, she knows he’s ‘supposed to know about this stuff’ and it’s just so cute that she already sees him as that person she can turn to for help. I know it’s just a spilt second moment here but it’s things like this that make me so hopeful for S3 development and make me believe F!Simon’s words: “it’s you falling in love with him that makes him become me.” It’s her trust and faith in him that helps shape who he will eventually grow into. :’)

Karen Gillan blew me away this week. Seriously. I’ve never doubted her as an actress and she’s been consistently amazing since the beginning of series 5. But. But, this episode, she was more than amazing, she totally transformed into Survivor!Amy, I had to keep reminding myself that it was still Karen playing her. She got the bitterness and sadness and anger so spot on. This is exactly who Amy would have become in this world. Exactly. Which made it so much harder at the end. 

THIS! I love how she managed to even change her voice so it was deeper and slightly hoarse from underuse. When she laughed at Rory’s fez joke, it was so perfectly timed and almost awkward that I was like, “whoa, her chuckle sounded so strange to me” and then she said it was the first time she’d laughed in 36 years and oh god, it just broke my heart. Kaz really blew me away tonight. She played two very different women and yet managed to bring them together in such a way that it was completely believable that Old!Amy could have ever been Young!Amy. I love this moment above where she’s talking to herself and trying to make herself understand that Rory isn’t just some boy; it’s RORY. I loved it so much. I also loved the moment when the two Amys materialized in front of each other and they were awkwardly greeting each other. So brilliant. UGH I CANNOT EXPRESS HOW MUCH LOVE I HAVE FOR THIS EPISODE.

I’ve come to the conclusion that this may be my favourite cap/moment of Alisha in S2. The stark florescent lights and the monochrome interior of Simon’s lair make everything about her clothes, her face, her hair stand out. She looks absolutely stunning here, with her hair all loose and framing her face while her big beautiful eyes are looking up at him. I just really love everything about this moment before they kiss because she looks vulnerable and unsure yet there’s the faintest hint of seduction behind her eyes.

Iwan says something off camera which only gets a small chuckle from the others but totally sends Antonia into a fit of giggles. This comes right after her “don’t give a shit” comment so inside joke maybe? If only the camera had panned over just a tad more and zoomed out to include Iwan… I really love how Antonia just breaks down laughing and then forces herself to snap out of it and try and regain some composure. [x]

There is something about this scene the really resonates with me and it’s not just the gratuitous, albeit appreciated, lack of clothing. This is a really interesting time in Simon’s arch because of the internal push and pull. In the shapeshifter episode he admits to finally liking himself for who he is, but now, with the knowledge that he’s to become SuperHoodie, who he is just simply isn’t enough and he’s back at square one, striving to be someone else entirely. He now also has Alisha to think about and satisfying her needs and living up to expectations he himself set (mindfuck, much?) and holy balls who wouldn’t be totally out of sorts.

So yeah, back to this scene, my favorite part is him walking off and turning invisible. What a magnificently visual coping mechanism, one that he seemed able to control at will, but which also takes over whenever his emotions key into that deep seeded fear of inadequacy. A power that is now gone. Boo. As exciting as it’ll be to see what new powers they acquire, I quite liked the old ones. :| Plus it’ll determine how they evolve as characters; it’ll no longer be about they coming to terms and learning to control the powers they’ve already got, they have to start fresh and we may never get some of the answers I know a lot of us were looking for. Anyway, it could make for really great storytelling or horribly shit TV. I guess we’ll see. Series 3, please make it snappy. Because, you know, time travel seems to be your thing, show and a year seems an awfully long time to wait.

CAN WE PLEASE TALK ABOUT RIVER’S FACE HERE? Look at the pained realization in her eyes! She’s starting to know him so well now as she travels back in her timestream even though all he says is, “tonight I’m going to need you all with me” she already knows horrible, bad shit is about to come. Ugh, her face breaks my heart so much. Amy doesn’t quite pick up the same vibe since she just seems interested to know why they’re all there, but I love that Rory seems concerned too and even glaces at River and sees the look on her face too.

So we know that F!Simon came back to save Alisha’s life, but why did he reveal his identity to her? Because he missed her. It was sort of a risky move, yeah? But I love that he did it. I love that he couldn’t help himself. 

I absolutely love that he came back to make sure things happened the way they were meant to, but that he just couldn’t stay away from her. He was like a moth to the flame - drawn to her almost beyond his control. You could see it on his face every time he looked at her, like he couldn’t get enough of her. Ugh, these two, their angst is so pretty.

Rewatched this scene the other day and her broken sobs and her pleading, “I love you!” always kills me. But what really gets me after continuous viewing is the pained look on his face that has very little to do with the bullet in his chest. It’s his heart breaking seeing her in so much distress and sadness, but he knows it has to be this way. He knows she will emerge stronger and her & Simon can finally be together in the present. :’ (

The look of slight betrayal and hurt in his eyes breaks my heart, as does her look of pleading for him to just understand and listen to her. This is the kind of angst I love. I love the misinterpretations and the sad stolen glances and the longing looks.

This moment (along with the temple kiss right before it) will forever remain one of my top favourite moments between Simon and Alisha. The intimacy between them is off the charts; their intertwined hands in her hair, the looks they give each other, the way he gently nuzzles her cheek with his nose and then rests his chin on her shoulder at the end…It’s almost as if he’s making sure she’s alright and she looks up to reassure him that she’s fine, just overwhelmed by all the feelings and thoughts rushing through her. It’s such a beautiful moment and just shows how real this love is between them.

Oh, Kelly. While everyone else felt bad about Nathan dying, she was hit the hardest by his death. I loved the opening montage of 2x01 with Alisha & Curtis happy and flirty, intercut with shots of Super!hoodie getting ready to be badass and Kelly staring sadly at Nathan’s orange jumpsuit. So many emotions set to an incredible soundtrack - ‘Take My Time/Rifles’ by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club really was such a perfect song to start everything off. Kelly is so gorgeous here even though she’s probably devastated by the loss of someone she had feelings for, but never got to tell them. She just looks so empty and numb. :(

When Simon takes a seat next to Alisha on the hay bale, he gives her the cutest little smile, looks over at the baby, then back to her. Then, as if she sensed him looking at her, she glances up at him and smiles. In my head, they just had a telepathic conversation; he thought, ‘one day this will be us’ and she thought back, ‘yeah, one day’. :)
